The Local Government Unit
of Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur received ₱318,000.00 worth of
grant through the Department of Science and Technology-Grants in Aid (DOST-GIA)
project titled “Improving the Quality of Life Through STI in Barangay Balonai,
Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur by Mainstreaming the Communist Influenced Community
through the Establishment of Corn Mill”. Barangay Balonai of Midsalip has been
identified to be the recipient of the said grant which one (1) unit of weighing
scale 500 kg capacity and one (1) unit of Corn Mill 5 sacks capacity per hour
will be provided. This initiative is part of End Local Communist Armed Conflict
(ELCAC) national strategy which primarily aims to promote equal livelihood
opportunities and inclusive growth to conflict-vulnerable areas. It is anticipated
that this project will boost economic growth, generate employment opportunities
and mainstream the community from being conflict-vulnerable into a productive
society.
