Engr. Mario E. de la Peña of DOST SIQUIJOR PSTC took the lead of his team in dropping by at its several assisted livelihood associations in the province of Siquijor on January 13, 2022 to distribute packs of nutribun.

The team first stop was in Basac, Larena for the BASAC WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION (BWA) with its DOST-assisted project on vege-noodle production.  Second’s was for LILOAN SAGUING FARMERS ASSOCIATION (LISAFA) under Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) peanut and vermicomposting production.  Third’s was for TAGMANOCAN FARMERS ASSOCIATION under DOST PCAARRD Farmers Information and Technology Services (FITS).  Fourth’s was for TRIPLE M FARMERS ASSOCIATION under CEST peanut and vermicomposting production.  And finally, for TAMBISAN FARMERS ASSOCIATION under DOST PCAARRD FITS.

The members of the aforementioned livelihood groups noted damages on their crops as well as some incidental and minor destruction on their personal properties.

After Odette, they gradually recovered, and found a new strength in pursuing their respective projects.  Like the buns that they received as filled with nutrients, their hope would be as much the vital source of sustaining their livelihood.

Essentially, the members were in consonance with their comment:  “Dili binuang ang pagama ani nga nutribun.”  (This nutribun is well-intended.)
